Site errors, bad certificates

Post by David Claflin » Sun May 10, 2020 8:01 am

First attempt at getting on the site just now I got an error message about the site not being secure, and it had bad certificates. Anyone else having that issue?

Yeah, the site's had an outdated certificate for quite some time now. I just put an exception into my browser(s) so I don't get prompted anymore. If it were any other website, I'd say that was a risky thing to do. But I know the problem here is the site owner just doesn't maintain the site and probably doesn't want to take the time/spend the money to get the cert updated.

I'm fine with that. The v8-ranger.com forum I'm on is still http.

It is interesting that Chrome defaults to assuming https if you don't explicitly indicate http://<url>

The problem is I don't have control over the server to make that change. I'll send Jon a message and see if he responds.
