Dataq a/f on Calcon / UltimaSerial has expired

Post by boss96 » Fri Mar 05, 2004 8:24 am

Not sure if this is the right forum but here goes. I am able to datalog a/f ratios now on calcon but after awhile it is giving me a message "unregistered version of ultimaserial" or something to that effect. You have to click "ok" to use calcon each time.
This may be stupid but I assumed that when I purchased the Dataq hardware/software that I would be good to go.
Anything I missed?

Mike has an update for this which will be released shortly. I've tested it, and it works.

The Ultimaserial software component bundled into CalCon IS licenced/registered, but from what I gather, if you install the DataQ software after CalCon, it overwrites the licence, and the driver now thinks that it is unlicenced.

The update re-writes the licence information properly, so that that Ultimaserial knows that the installation is licenced (As part of the CalCon software).

Josh, since I am installing a new hardrive in my laptop today...all I will have to do for now is install Dataq first, then Caledit/Calcon and it will work correctly?

We think so, but we are not sure. You can try it, and if it works, then we know what the problem was. However, I don't know if the 'trial' period starts when the software was installed (i.e. it may work on your new laptop hard drive now, but pop up again later ...), or when the software was originally licenced.

Try DataQ first, then A7/8 and let me know what happens. If you still get the error, I'll see what I can do for you ;)

O.k., I've been given clearance to relase the UltimaSerial updates.

NOTE - from what I gather, this update only needs to be done if you installed the DataQ software AFTER Calcon. The DataQ software apparently over-writes the CalCon-embedded non-expiring UltimaSerial licence with one that will expire.

If your UltimaSerial is 'expiring' extract the two executables in this .zip and run them in sequence.
