Hello,
(I have been a member for a while but I had to make a new account to get back in).
I have a decent tune on an DA-1 ECM with a J3 chip, and another DA-1 ECM with a Quarterhorse that has a dead battery. I removed the battery but have not soldered one back in (I was thinking of using wires running to a small battery holder that would mount outside).
But I do not have my laptop anymore, and just want to have a back up ECM to carry with me. If I was to send my ECMs to someone, could they transfer my tune from the J3 chip to my Quarterhorse? Or to another J3 chip?

Yes, someone could likely transfer your tune from the J3 chip to either the Quarterhorse (once a new battery is installed) or another J3 chip, provided they have the necessary equipment and software.

Thank you Salmawis. I did get a battery soldered up, and I have a new laptop. I have all of the connections from when I tuned it years ago, but my Binary Editor is long gone on the old laptop.
Can I transfer the tune from the J3 to my QH with what I have?
