Newbie
I have been lurking around the forum since March '05 and must say that the knowledge on the forum is awesome. My project is defined in my sig. I am in the process of getting a tweecer and have already purchased EA to aid in tuning.
I would think that I will be coming to the forum for advice, and hope that in time I will learn enough to offer advice to newbie's like my self as well.
I do have a question pretaining to MAF's
Would I be better of using the 70mm ford MAF or an 80MM pro-M?
The pro-m is calibrated for 36# injectors, but since I will be using the tweecer I assume that this does not matter?
Any ideas or input would be great.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks for the reply. I was planning on going with a wideband O2 as from what I have read on the forums, that is about the only way of getting a tune short of going on a dyno.
Thanks again for the information.

Re: Newbie
This does matter in one sense. Stock meter (89-93) is caled for 19# injectors and maxes out around 900 kg/hr. So if your car uses 1200 kg/hr the computer will only inject fuel for 900 kg/hr.dodgedad wrote: The pro-m is calibrated for 36# injectors, but since I will be using the tweecer
LEAN = BAD
If you try to build the MAF curve to compensate for the added air the meter will still be maxing out at 900 kg/hr.
You can get away with more meter than you have injectors but not the other way around. If you are buying a meter the best bet is still to have a meter caled for your injectors.

Are you saying that even if I am using tweecer to do my tune, I should still have my 80mm pro-m calibrated for the 24# injectors?
I thought that the tweecer was suposed to allow me to tune all of these varibles.
Also, am I shooting my self in the foot by using 24# injectors with my set up? should I go larger for future add ons?

You can change all the variables in the computer. The problem with the MAF is all the computer sees is a voltage between 0 - 5 volts. The electronics in the meter itself are calibrated to send out a certian voltage for a given amount of air. Once you go over that amount of air the meter will continue to output 5 volts no matter how much air passes through it. That is why it is ok to have a meter that is too large for your combo but not to small.
There are some programs that help you choose the correct injectors for your application. These are not exact just guide lines. I am sure someone here will say they made more horsepower than I say with a certian injector, but this is what I found. These numbers are NA. Boosted applications require more injector.
24lbs injectors 300 - 325 hp
36lbs injectors 400 - 450 hp
42lbs injectors 500 - 550 hp
So decide how much hp you plan on making and go from there
If you already have the 24lbs injectors and the MAF cal'ed for 36lb'ers try them out before you buy anything else. With the TwEECer you can make this work (remember more meter than injector is ok).

Thanks for the reply.
The pro-m unit I have is showing a model number of 80R and a calibration of 36 C
My assumption is that the meter is calibrated for 36# injectors.
Will finding a flow curve for this meter be a problem. I bought it used and it did not have a calibration sheet withit.
Thanks for the input :D

Since you do not have the flow sheet then it is going to be harder to get a curve. Since you know the injector size. I would set the injector size along with the injector offset and breakpoints to one of the processors that came with 24's. Llike the X3Z or the J4J1.
Once all that is set then place in your best guess of a curve. Then you will need to leave adaptive turned on. Let the tweecer log data for a while and see how far it is off. You can then modify the curve to get the propper curve.
The other option is to send the MAF in to get it re flowed. If that is not an option the use the factory curve and start by richening it by 50%.
