USB adapting??

Post by tbaylx » Sat Oct 26, 2002 9:14 am

I have an older laptop (pentium 166 with 128 MB Ram) running windows 98. Unfortunately no USB ports. Is there a way to adapt the Tweecer to run on this computer or am I out of luck.

Thanks

Brian

Yes there is! But only if your laptop has the Cardbus 32 bit slots (not the older PCMCIA 16 bit slots). I have an IBM Thinkpad that is also a 166, and mine works. I got a Cardbus USB adapter made by Belkin. Here's a link to it: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductP ... t_Id=20852 Search around on the internet though. You can find it cheaper than for what Belkin sells it for. I think I bought mine for about $65.

Here's another cheaper option that I used with my old laptop. It's a Belkin USB Serial Adapter, Part Number: F5U103

That won't work in his case. He needs USB, not serial. That USB Serial Adapter converts USB to serial. He either needs USB ports, or needs something that does opposite of what this thing does (serial to USB).

You're right! I was thinking about connecting my EEC-Tuner to my USB only Dell L400. Sorry about that.
