Keep getting "Failed to Verify" error with LPT twe

Post by rl » Mon May 12, 2003 2:55 pm

I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of.

I THINK the board rev is 4.0, when I do a 'read tweecer' it says its a 4.0, and it also throws the error "invalid or unsupported binary image".

When I try to write the tweecer it throws the error "failed to verify". I've tried it with the tweecer on the computer in the truck, and I just now tried it with it powered by the power supply, still the same result.

I have the port set to EPP (it doesnt work on any setting, I've tried them)

I'm using the software from the tweecer site, the latest lhblo.dat and a good C3P2 binary.

This is a old LPT twecer I got used, it does NOT have a switch box hooked up (the previous owner said when he bought it several years ago it did not come with one).

Any help would be great :)

Thanks
Rob

Check out the above thread regarding a dll version issue, follow it and see if either will correct your problem.

Thanks Mike, I'll try it in the A.M. :)

Still having the same issue...

I deleted the j3.dll, and pasted a j3208.dll then renamed it to j3.dll, did the same thing with the j3207.dll, neither worked. Was I doing that correctly?

Still get "failed to varify" when I try to write, and "invalid or unsuported binary" when I read the tweecer... I restarted cal-edit and the computer with no luck.

Also is the tweecer supposed to get slightly warm when you use the power supply when it's out of the car?

Did you try all those steps with the printer port selected to "standard" or all in EPP? My laptop is older, it has to be set to standard, bi-directional in order to get my LPT Tweecer to work. Later.

EPP will not work, bi-di should do the trick. You may have to re-do the DLL swapping once you have the bios LPT settings changed.

ok, I still cant get it to work. Its a rev 4.0 LPT tweecer on a 95 lightning C3P2.

So far I have:

Tried all of the DLL's
Set the par. port to bi-di
used the latest IHBLO.dat

I'm using it with a laptop running windows 98se
Before I would just get "failed to verify" now I switched the port type to bi-di and tried the other DLL's. With either the 207.dll or the 208.dll I have the same problem. When you first start cal-edit you cant write to the tweecer, although it says failed to verify (with the correct file in the input). if you try to read the EEC it completes but says 'invalid or unsupported binary". If you read the tweecer it says "invalid or unsupported binary" HOWEVER it completes the EPROM read, and AFTER you read the tweecer it allows you to write the tweecer and completes. However it still doesnt work, the fuel pump stays running, and the scalers are all wacky (like 16553 idle). When I initially try to write the tweecer I am using a good C3P2.BIN (and it fails to verify) I have tried every DLL and every port setting.

Any clue what else I can try?

Let me scrounge up Caledit LPT version 1.18. It isn't as refined as 1.20, but it won't cause any grief in the connection process either. I'll let you know where it's posted when I get it there. Later.

You can download 1.18 here, just let me know when you're done so I can delete the file. It's taking up a big chunk of room. Later.

Hey Art, I've been working with an LPT lately so I can relate.

Let me tell you what worked for me.

Make sure you Laptop is connected to A/C power. Mine did funny things as battery power started to run down

I'm using the CeSetup.exe you can download from www.tweecer.com But had to switch to the J3208.DLL.

Make sure you LPT port is set to Bi-Directional in the computer BIOS

I can read the tweecer and the EEC without a problem, but when I write, I still get the fail to verify error. However, even with that error, it still writes the data.

I'll try the differnt software as I'm using the Cal Edit as well. I'm not sure where to change the port identification but I'll look. I'm using a power converter for my laptop in the car and it seems to work fine.

Question: How do I start to modify the program? When I look through my tabs on the cal edit page they are all blank or showing weird figures. I really need some direction because right now I'm so lost.

Thanks,

Art
