Re: Injectors not the size they are supposed to be, what effect?

It depends on what technique Eric uses to get more airflow through the MAF. If he just increases the pressure across the MAF, then yes, the output voltage will exceed 4.86V and you haven't improved things. However, if he increases the ratio of air flowing through the meter body to the air flowing th...

Re: Explorer ECM

When I built my setup, I just ordered some custom length plug wires from Taylor. It took a couple of weeks. If you want the lengths of the wires, I can get them.

Re: Explorer ECM

Wiring coils that are designed to be driven by 12V, that way (waste spark) is a bad idea. Since they are wired in series, you are only going to get 6V to the primary of each coil. That is going to drop the secondary voltage on the coil that is connected to the firing cylinder quite a bit. Maybe 25% ...

Sounds to me like the L and R O2 sensors have been reveresed. Also, have you disconnected power to the EEC for a few minutes? I would do this to make sure that the fuel trims are zeroed.

cgrey8, Since your profile says you're an engineer, you probably realize this, but maybe not:) There are two reasons not mentioned so far, that make turbos more efficient than superchargers. 1) The power to drive a supercharger has gone through one more conversion process than in a turbo. 2) Once bl...

I would definitely modify your sealevel load scaling vs. rpm function. Increase the max loads by about 40% (6/14.7) and scale everything on the Y axis to compensate. I don't think multiplying your injector battery offsets by 0.45 is valid. Download BE and EA. I think they will have correct starting ...

I wasn't trying to imply that the knock sensor put out a DC voltage. Being a microphone, with a very nonflat frequency response, it of course puts out an AC voltage, when an AC pressure is applied to it.

Let me clear up a few things. The vibrations that knock sensors pick up is due to the transverse acoustic resonance in the cylinder after detonation occurs. In acoustics terms, this is called a standing wave. The frequency of this resonance is directed related to the diameter of the cylinder and the...

Clint,

Then it sounds like BE already does exactly what I was looking for. Since it lets you know that the write/read cycle had a failure, it is any easy thing to just rewrite to the Tweecer.

With Caledit, if the writing process gets corrupted, you never know about it.

Cool!

That makes perfect sense. Other systems that I've used that show which cell is active (AEM, TEC-II) only show one cell. They don't illuminate all four cells which are contributing. They just pick the one that has the dominant influence. The AEM system illuminates the active cell along with the X and...

I guess this is sort of a BE feature request. Over the past couple of years of using the Tweecer, I've run into this problem where the bin file becomes corrupted. As Clint has pointed out in another thread, there is no error checking in the computer to Tweecer interface. I believe that this causes t...

That is what I figured.

Why four cells? I would expect three areas. One being the breakpoint along the y axis, the other being the breakpoint along the x axis and the third being the actual cell that both breakpoints point to.

Question about Real Time Monitor box in BE

Does anyone know what the Real Time Monitor checkbox on each of the tables in BE does? I search the site and the BE help files and didn't find anything.

Chris, This will be easy to fix with the Tweecer. Basically you have one main problem. The EEC is coming up with the incorrect engine load because there are things about the sensors and engine displacement it doesn't know about. Specifically the use of an MAF "calibrated" for 30lbs/hr injectors mean...

I can confirm that my first 87LX without cruise control had no VSS sensor. When I did the MAF conversion on it, It took me about a week to deterimine that there was a missing VSS sensor causing the engine to die all the time.
