New.. introduction

Post by wydopnthrtl » Mon Dec 03, 2012 2:39 pm

Hello all,

I've been reading and reading here and decided to join because of the knowledge, friendliness, & I sure could use advise on tuning. And maybe I could help others in other ways. (OEM automotive engineer for 20yrs. 1/2 of which was @ Ford. I know the 4.6/5.4 inside out)

My car: I have a mostly stock, fair weather & 99% street driven 89GT w/T5. It has 126k on the clock & I am slowly building it with the goal of running 12.5s in pure street trim (93oct w/DA avg of 2000ft).
The car was stock when I bought it excpet for a 70mm TB and fresh paint. I've done the usual first steps w/a 5.0L which have woke it up quite a bit. In prep for tuning it I've replaced most of the sensors and installed an innovative MTX-L WB w/pinout harness.
Last winter I went 1st class on the rear end w/all new parts & 4.10s.
This winter I'm going with a T5Z, centerforce, & tuning.
Hopefully next winter I can do the engine.

ST Goal: Get the tranny done, tune it myself, and run a high 13 this summer in pure street trim. (245-45-17 all seasons)

LT Goal: Would be nice to go to the track after work, put on some ET streets or DR and run high 11s.

So I've pretty much decided on QH & BE but am not too sure what else I need to buy or how to hook up the WB for data logging. Any advise which other items I might buy and what is best for data logging with the MTX-L?

btw, I've successfully tuned 3 OBD2 fords w/SCT pro racer. I'm no expert.. but I have dipped my toe in the water. ;-)

If you have the QH and BE already, your good. There is a write up in the faq on how to wire the innovate so you can log it in BE. The only other addition would be Clints Engine Analyzer where you can feed it your datalogs and it will analyze them and give you recommendations on what need to be changed in your tune. Check it out....

You will also want to update your signature line to include which ecm you are using and strategy. You can use an a9l ecm and write a 93 cobra x3z tune to it for example.

Thanks guys, I've not been here much as I have a ton of work going on right now. But when I get a break I'll buy all the stuff and get to it.

Regards,
Rich
