Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

QH CDAN4 no 2-3 shift

Post by p4ndiamond » Thu Jan 19, 2012 12:57 am

I keep having an issue where i want to tune. finally have a wide band. but when i go to change my tune some to make the adaptave control turn off and to make it run open loop all the time. at WOT my transmission will get stuck on rev limiter for the 2-3 shift and sit there like forever and let up some then hit it again then finally shift.

I set to stock tune option on the QH and it works flawlessly. Im baffeled at whats going on here.

To make it hold open loop i set Min o/L and max C/L speeds both to 0.00 so that its in open loop at all times. Is this correct method ?

And for adaptive controll disabled i set it to yes.

I hope im doing this right. need help asap.

No. The 'MPH Min for O/L' (aka VS_OL_SH) value must be set higher than 'MPH Max for C/L' (aka VS_OL_CL) parameter unless both are set to 127.5 mph to disable fuelling mode selection based upon vehicle speed. This is stated in the parameter notes. Setting to values that are not expected will yield odd results.

Ok im still having the 2-3 shift issue. I set it to disable the QH and it does it perfect. so then i started off with a fresh code and it was fine. But the transmission shifts mysteriously soft and i have jmod so it was quite harsh.

Now the new code was working fine. then after so long of adjusting my fuel slopes it started malfunctioning with the 2-3 shift again... i immediately set it to disable all tunes again to see if it would work correctly and it did. What could be the issues with it ? After so many reads/writes it fails.

The only way i can get it to shift when it fail's like this is to lift off the gas a moment then get back into it.

What is the 'catch' code of the bin file you are using?

Ok i re-sent the emails. Hope they go through this time.

New issues that is possibly related so far is. When i make tune changes they don't apply.
For example i just loaded a gas mileage tune i have been working on. then added a performance tune to another bank in the QH... after awhile the gas mialge tune is the one running even when the performance is selected. I erase the QH with the clear ram feature and load the performance tune backup copy and its STILL running the gas mileage tune wtf...

Im not understanding if its a BE issues or if the QH is malfunctioning horribly. I have erased several times and now the gas mileage tune is stuck on the QH even when it says i cleared all the 4 slots on it. *insert FUU face here*

well today i did try what sailor bob told me to do and install the tune to all 4 banks . it appears to work. i also reinstalled and re updated BE. One time when i told it to update changes to the car it froze my pc until i unplugged the USB cable.
