Can you get better pics zoomed in on the fracture surfaces?
Especially any beach marking?
Any pics of the pin itself?

I would like to see the rod bearing, cylinder walls, the rod small end, and anything else you can get a picture of as well.

look closer guys. these are the problem pieces. The pin was fitted correctly, i fitted the damn thing. the ring's are all still loose. the piston was still in the bore. Look closely. half the wrist pin is still in the piston while the other part left with the TI rod as it wind milled the block at 11,000 rpm.

this wrist pin failure is from a heavily overload situation, this notor was making some hellacious power to inch ratio.

re~enginered the wrist pin and solved this problem.

yes, the pin snapped. one piece stayed in the bin bore the other left with the ti rod that all most cut the block in half. the piston was still in the bore, at the top of the deck. 110 inch 4cyl 1.8L alcohol and nitrous injected motec system with 3.5 bar. Was good for 7.0's @ 190's in the quarter. 60'd in the 1.0's in nhra pro-rwd in 07. production head and block.

I am looking forward to this computer.

I have one engine failure ... failure to appear.
My car was swiped from in front of my house.

My friend had his car swiped once too, but his was equipped with an ignition system that would run for only a small amount of time unless a code was entered before starting the car. As a result, they found the car 1/4 mile away on a highway, where the thieves were not willing to be seen trying to diagnose an engine problem and just left the car.

Any thoughts on including a security measures?

yeah, it doubles as a car alarm as well it has to in order for the remote start to work, i've contemplated a finger print module, if the vehicle is driven differently than normal (just about everything is calculated based off previous cycles) then you'll have to finger print it out to keep it from shutting off, of course for those that don't like it, they can go to menu >> manual override >> security >> finger print verification | disable

everything has a manual override so you don't have to live with anything you don't like, you can also change anything you want whenever you want or do anything tune wise to it that you wish

i was also thinking of having the dec update its location when requesting the finger print verification
I already have a GPS module that calculates vehicle speed, so i just need to figure out how im going to get it to communicate, i was thinking maybe a SIM card and use the cell phone towers, but that would require a pre-paid account with your local phone provider to send text messages, definitely do-able but im looking for alternatives before i do that, I won't do ESN because I don't like the idea of the phone tower knowing where you are all the time, I'd rather just update locations when I feel the need and/or listen for shut down text messages in specific 'windows'

thats still some time out though

even though it would be more expensive, i'd look at a 3g type connection for it (or some form of internet), then you can just have it update location to a secure website after querying GPS data. You also get the added bonus of having internet and can make it a wifi hotspot if you need.

I'd also seriously look at modularizing some of this stuff, just due to failsafes and making sure car can keep running if some part fails (ie internet module is compromised, etc.)

alarm is just an accessory manually enabled

3g wont cut it, not too many folks steal a car then take said vehicle to the nearest starbucks and hang out, so that really wouldnt be reliable

we shall see though

When a part is going to fail, it will fail. alarm saftey shut off equipped, or not. you can not keep a mechanical failure from happening.

.... 3g is wireless broadband internet from verizon, etc... not wifi (802.11x). midwest east is almost completely covered, only weak areas are to the west in less populated zones.

lol np man. for your market i think it'd work fine; most people messing with this stuff will likely be around the more populated areas, and have coverage. They make usb adapters and such to connect; or mobile hot spots that you can connect to via wifi, and then it uplinks to the 3g network.

alright well 3g wont work as the operating price is about the same price as a cell phone bill each month, im thinking the prepaid sim card shooting txt is probably best

any chance you'll be doing TBI injection with this as well? or will it be just tuned port? Got an old van that I'd really love to have something better than the crappy GM computer.

well, there ya go lol. GM TBI control. MAP based. 2 injector throttle body. uses GM 8 pin dist. some info on the dist, in relation to the Megasquirt for reference:

and some more GM dist possibilities:

I hadnt thought about that, i know of any engines that natively run an "ECP" sensor, sounds like a pretty cool idea though, it could also double as overheat protection as well

Its simple enough to add it in manually though just go to config >> hardware >> pins and assign a pressure transfer to an unused analog input
