OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
Output Shaft Speed Sensor
Has anyone found a scalar for the OSS count?
Need to change from 6 to 24

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
I think I might have found it!
Does anyone know what MNOSSPER is?
It's set to 600 and has OSS in the name. I'm guessing here but maybe this is what I need to change to 2400?
"MNOSSPER - The minimum time that must elapse between the rising edges of the Output Shaft Speed Sensor signal in order for the signal to be considered valid. Calculate using this formula:
ticks = (3 * cpu clock frequency in Hz) / (max shaft speed in rpm * no. of OSS pulses per rev)"
Who is this SailorBob guy and how do I get a hold of him?
Anyone know if this is the right item to change?

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
you mean 6 to 12 ?
the czaw0 strategy doesnt have that scalar, thats 99+ that use calculated speed
mnossper is to validate the oss signal, i usually divide that by 2 and call it a day but that has nothing to do with what your asking

So what you're saying is that I'm SOL? Is there anything I can do to fix this?
There are six holes and I thought the '04 had 24 marks. Regardless, is there a fix I can apply to the tune?
What does the OSS do in my car anyway?

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
If someone could just say it can't be done I would be happy with that. DirtD0g seems to think it can be so here I am trying to figure it out.
I'm starting to think it can't. I've been informed that the #OSSPULL is for 99+ only.
Decipha, I installed a 2004 4r70w. Can I change the tune to reflect the different output shaft ring carrier? My oss is unplugged and the car is shifting oddly. Thinking this is my prob?
Car will not shift at all when it's plugged in.

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
i tried explaining this to dirtydog on sccoa but he didn't want to hear me and pretty much just blew me off as being misinformed
im fairly confident the czaw0 ecu never had a variable declared (scalar) to achieve such, im pretty sure the oss pulses is in the hard calculation (oss speed algorithm)
i'll shoot sailorbob a message and see if he wants to add a hack for it, it may cause some other issues as i can only assume the spd_ratio is calculating based off the hard calculation as well
you are using sailorbobs czaw0 correct?

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
Honestly, I don't know if I am or not. I orginally received my file off the BE website but then might have received one from XR7_Dave.decipha wrote:i tried explaining this to dirtydog on sccoa but he didn't want to hear me and pretty much just blew me off as being misinformed

I have no problems using Sailorbobs version, if I'm not already. How may I go about checking?
If it's something you and him can easily do that would be very helpful.
Thanks,

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
osspul, its not in dalke's def file, you'll have to get it from sailorbob, but he hasn't added it yet so hang on a little longer

Right on! His strategy files are available over at the BE website, is that right?

no, you have to get them from him directly, it'll be a while before he messes with it though, he's pretty tied up with other stuff going on

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
So SailorBob had updated the CZAW0 definition file for me. It worked and the transmission is shifting like a dream.
The joy
Thanks, Decipha.

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
don't thank me
see dreams do come true
now be sure you tame that 3-4 slip, can be solved by increasing the shift converter duty cycle nearing higher tq
the converter slip and converter no capacity functions can be increased, i usually set 512 = 95 and kick up the value just below it until the slip is gone
remember the dynamic shift pressure functions are absolute pressures, 0= 0 tv pressure during a shift

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
I did use the yellow spring from the 95 transmission inside the 2004. I believe this was for the overdrive servo. All seems well, can't find this 3-4 slip. From what I understand it's at light throttle so maybe that's why I haven't seen it yet. I'll need to drive it a bit more and pay closer attention.
As for the thanking, if you didn't point me in the right direction to contact sailorbob I would have had to drop the transmission again and probably would have lost my sanity in the process. I owe both of you a huge thanks for that. I wonder why Dave\Fraser didn't offer the same service?

I drove it to work today and I think I noticed what you're talking about.decipha wrote:

I'm looking for the function tables, are these the right ones?
Converter Clutch Dutycycle for No Slip
Converter Clutch Dutycycle for No Capacity
Do I need to adjust all the values in the % field or just the top one?
What's an acceptable temp for the TOT to reach for normal summer driving?

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
without a cooler in 95 degree ambient air your tot should be very close to the ect approx 210 with a stock 195 thermostat
i run and highly recommend the b&m plate coolers from summit for $80, my tot used to get to 235 degrees after one pass in the night ambient air temp of 85 degrees
since the cooler she usually sits at about 175 cruising and 195 after beating on her
general rule of thumb is every 30 degrees doubles trans wear, 175-185 is the optimum operating temp
you can kick the duty cycle at max tq 510 = 95 dc then adjust below there to your liking
the 3-4 and 4-3 shift pressure tables can be increased, take all the negative numbers to a minimum of 10, i usually minimum clip both tables to 10
also would be wise to disable torque modulation and remove tip in retard if using 93 octane

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
So I've edited the following
FN34DT = 40 PSI
FN43DT = 40 \ 90 PSI
TMVEUP = .100
Converter Clutch Dutycycle for No Slip = 95 DC \\ Top Value only
Converter Clutch Dutycycle for No Capacity = 95 DC \\ Top Value Only
TP_MIN_TQM = 0.000
Here is a datalog, it's having a tuff time shifting into 4th on the highway and also sometimes with city driving.

Re: OSS Signal OSSPULL# ??
that sounds like a LOT of pressure, keep in mind if you overpressure the band on a shift you'll cause excessive wear, one band has to slip in order for the other to engage
you want the transmission to shift fast not hard, theres a huge difference between the two
a faster shift reduces wear, a harder shift causes more wear
the shift functions is probably what you need to adjust, the 3-4 shift sealevel is what you want to adjust, as well as the 4-3 shift sealevel function
i don't know if your aware or not but the vss is pretty much useless for trans control, the vsbar_rt is the calculated speed based off tire size and gear ratio
its not uncommon for actual and calculated to be very far off even on a 100% bone stock vehicle

Ah, maybe you saw my other posts? The vehicle speed is about 4MPH off and get's better as I go faster. It won't even register on the dash until about 25MPH. Weird.... I thought I might have the wrong speedo gear and or a bad VSS.
So you think the sea level charts? I'll sneak a peak and see what I can break.
I went back to stock everything, it behaves just the same. When I say the same, I mean no shifting into 4th on the highway and city driving is a crap shoot. If I dare hold it around 45MPH it'll just shift between 3rd and 4th. Lunge forwad and slow back down type of feeling.

what other post?
They were over at SCCOA and TCCOA.
So I found my problem. I never changed the MNOSSPER to reflect the new OSS count.
Here is my calculation
ticks = (3 * cpu clock frequency in Hz) / (max shaft speed in rpm * no. of OSS pulses per rev)
(12000000 * 3) \ (10000 * 24) = 150
12mhz = EEC-IV processor speed \\ 12mhz is 12000000 Hz
10000= Output Shaft Max Limit
24= OSS Count
I verified this was in fact the correct calculation by figuring out how Ford got the original 600 tick count.
(12000000 * 3) \ (10000 * 6) = 600
Anyway, this fixed my problem and my transmission is now shifting correctly.
OSSPULL = 24
MNOSSPER = 150
I took it on several highway drives; it shifts into 4th without an issue now.
Now I just need to figure out why my Speedometer doesn't register until I get to about 25MPH, it's also about 4-6MPH off.
