Adding OBD-II plug to harness (EEC-V)
I need to add an OBD-II plug to my vehicle's harness. Does anyone have a pinout for the EEC-V specifically?
I'm planning to mount this plug kit (http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/produc ... ts_id/1562) under the dash and use one of the Bluetooth ELM327 units to datalog. Will it work?

Re: Adding OBD-II plug to harness (EEC-V)
Howdy Shaker,
I need to do the same thing. I have an OBD-II plug and the 3 wires bundled together but I have connected them to the plug yet.
If I can remember to so so I'll let you know which three pins/wires are used. It's something like #13, 15 and 16.

P.S. Loos like you and I are the only people using EEC-V ECUs.

Re: Adding OBD-II plug to harness (EEC-V)
Yeah, it definitely looks like we're the only ones running EEC-V. The thing is, it does support all the features I want quite well. Unfortunately, it's not working!Stengun wrote:Howdy Shaker,

I have the pinout for the EEC-V, what I meant to ask for was the pinout of the OBD-II connector itself as it relates to the EEC-V. Is it just 4 wires going to the OBD-II (datalink +, -, FEPS, and 12V power)?

Re: Adding OBD-II plug to harness (EEC-V)
Howdy Shaker,
Here's a simpler pinout:
13 DLC PWR It's pin 13 on the OBD2 port
15 DLC (-) pin 10
16 DLC (+). pin 2
That's all you really need to read the ECU's code. Not sure about datalogging.
Yeah, that danged ol' Decipha steered me to the CDAN4 EEC-V too.
I know if I keep hacking at it long enough I'll finally get it to run right.

thats it for datalogging as well
its nothing special just a few wires, don't forget power and ground
I have an obd2 port wiring diagram i'll post when I can

Re: Adding OBD-II plug to harness (EEC-V)
Hey decipha has talked me into the same swap on my 460
Do either of you have pictures of the harness before you installed it.
I found a car to get the sensors and harness and ecu out of its a 97 gt
I'm trying to see which plugs or sensors are not used.
I have a c6 trans so I won't need the trans harness.
Also can I see pics of your cranks sensor ?

Re: Adding OBD-II plug to harness (EEC-V)
The EEC-V stuff has a relay/diode pack attached close to the main harness bulkhead, which is a rather large bulky black connector. The engine harness, including O2, transmission, and injector connectors come off the other side of that. I ended up redoing the entire harness to match the lengths and locations of sensors in my car, then wrapping it all up in some Techflex braided sleeving. You won't have to worry about the trans harness, but it's good to know what it looks like. There's a 16-pos black connector that contains most of the trans functions along with a 16-pos grey connector that has a couple. You'll need to retain the grey connector at the very least as there's non-trans related critical connections that will need to be made there.cobraslayer95 wrote:Hey decipha has talked me into the same swap on my 460

You should get a hold of the schematics for the vehicle you've pulled the harness from so you can identify what you do and don't need. I was running a C6, but decided to upgrade to a built 4R70W and glad I didn't eliminate the transmission connectors.
The crank position sensors from the 4.6 will be unusable, IMHO. I would use the crank sensor from a late model Ford Contour and fabricate brackets and a 36-1 trigger wheel for your crank pulley to make it all work. For you cam sync, you should take the shaft out of a 3.8L V6 unit and retrofit it into the housing from a '96-01 Explorer/Mountaineer's cam sync. You'll want the really short tine version as well, not the half moon type. The half moon type works with a Hall effect whereas the later model stuff uses a VR sensor for the cam sync.

Re: Adding OBD-II plug to harness (EEC-V)
Awesome great info there. Thanks so much..
OK I have zero wiring in this car.. I was hoping I can make the ecu and engine harness separate from the main car harness I have the 18 circuit hotrodwires harness to use still in the boxfor the chassis wireing.
do you have a pic of your harness laid out before installing it?
Or some installed pics?

Re: Adding OBD-II plug to harness (EEC-V)
You should be able to do that. I have a '71 Mustang with a Painless Wiring 14-circuit universal Ford harness installed. The ECU and engine harness is totally separate. A nice feature of the EEC-V harness is that the engine harness completely detaches from the ECU harness via the large black bulkhead connector. We pulled my engine out a few months ago without having to disconnect anything on the engine itself, just that bulkhead and a ground connection, that was it. I don't have any great pics, but here's a few anyway.cobraslayer95 wrote:Awesome great info there. Thanks so much..

Here's my VR mount setup, kinda ghetto. Here's a front view of my engine with some annotations: A: EEC relay pack with diode
B: Primary engine harness bulkhead connector
C: EDIS8 ignition coil packs mounted on the driver side valvecover
D: IAC valve and connector
E: Cam sync sensor and connector
F: Fuel injector connector
G: MAF connector harness
H: Obscured by thermostat housing and radiatior hose, but the ECT sensor is mounted in there
I: TPS sensor connector
J: EVAP solenoid connector

Thanks for all the great info
I still have some questions and concerns.
Would you mind if I got a phone # in a private message to talk about a few of my issues?
I don't know if I'm making this harder than is is but I usually good at figuring things out and everyone makes it sound so easy but my head is about to explode from reading and looking for answers
