SUCCESS! EEC back into kickpanel on a 95 GT!!!

Post by Last5oh » Sat Oct 26, 2002 6:19 pm

Okay, after an afternoon of scratching my head...
1. How do I get the EEC back into the kickpanel after installing the TWEECER?
2. I know someone suggested trimming the plastic bracket BUT... How do I get the bracket out of the car?
N.B. Car is a 95 GT.

UPDATE: EEC is back in KICKPANEL!
This board needs a little GOOD NEWS too!

After I established that the TwEECer was working well on the floor. I bundled it in foam carpet underpad, cut ventilation holes, secured it with packing tape, shoe-horned it back into the kickpanel.

FYI spent about 30 minutes cleaning the J3 port. Aside from cream-colored grease, there appeared to be silicone-like material coating the connectors. I got that off with a pencil eraser and a "bucket" of rubbing alcohol.

Once in the car, I read the stock settings, (saved that to file) wrote it to position 1, then I increased idle_at_neutral to 1000 (from 704) and wrote that to position 2.

The car starts on either setting and the change in idle speed while switching on the fly validates the modifications were uploaded.

So I guess "now the FUN begins!" :D

I think i'm having the same problem with my '95. I think the problem is that clear sealant over the connectors. So far i've tried, a razor blade, erasor, and rubbing alchohol. Any other ideas?

I have never seen the clear sealent on an EECIV, but it is VERY possible as the 95 EECIV's were the precursor to the EECIV's and some of the manufacturing processes may have been implemented early. The EECV's have this sealer and I have spent as little as 10 minutes and as long as an hour getting a processor to read correctly 100% of the time. I start with a razor blade to scrape off as much as possible and then use a scotch brite pad if needed.
