Really? Couldn't that have been accomplished with the TCC? LOLdecipha wrote:e40d also has a coasting clutch solenoid too

then what u gonna do about the tcc lockup?
4r uses 2 solenoids a tcc oss and sometimes a vss
E4 uses 2 solenoids, tcc, ccs, tss, oss, and sometimes vss

Re: Running 351W with Modular 5.4 PCM
This brings up another question didn't they switch to a PWM signal to control line pressure at some point, maybe 97? So is that yet another signal from the ECC? For me I,m waiting for Adam at Popsracing to get back to me on if he has a def for MPAL6. Depending on that answer if I use that ECC I have to make sure I use a E4OD or 4R100 with the right solenoids and what nots to match what it would have been controlling. At least that would probably be easier that trying to tune for a mismatch.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Re: Running 351W with Modular 5.4 PCM
Does anyone know if the MPAL6 ECCV form the 2000 gas superduty has a tach output pin and if it can drive the tach in my Bronco cluster that currently is driven (I think) from the SD ECC4 that it has now ???
Thanks

Re: Running 351W with Modular 5.4 PCM
Your tach is not driven by the EECIV. My Bronco tach (96 EECV) is driven by the actual coil firing. The line that triggers the coil literally branches off and feeds the tach. I think you can certainly drive your tach from the coil driver on the new ICM.Jman wrote:Does anyone know if the MPAL6 ECCV form the 2000 gas superduty has a tach output pin and if it can drive the tach in my Bronco cluster that currently is driven (I think) from the SD ECC4 that it has now ???
My tach is being driven by the tach driver on my Megajolt since I run EDIS with 4 coil drivers. But a simple circuit with diodes can be used to drive the tach signal off of the EDIS coils or even off COP.

Re: Running 351W with Modular 5.4 PCM
That's good so for COP I would probably seal up 8 diodes in the harness near the EEC and take one wire from there back to the original tach wire back to the cluster. I wonder if anyone makes a small device designed for that. I'd hate to have a diode crap out and cause a miss or not run at all.
I'm tying to decide if I'm going to use the MPAL6 ECCV I've been talking with Adam at Popsracing and he can support this strategy only via straight through cable. I'm tying to think about any gotchas.
I'm planing on running evap purg. No erg no air pump but I don't think that ECC even does air pump. No catalytic converter only one o2 sensor. I want a working check engine light that is not constantly on because I forgot about some detail that can't be worked out.
Anyone please toss input this way about gotchas I might not be thinking about. One question I have is, on the 2000 gas superduty or Expeditions did they do ECC fuel pressure regulator control with no return line? Or is it a mechanical with a return. That could be an issue.
Thanks

they are return style, it doesnt make any difference though

This is an EDIS tach adapter. It supports V8's in a wasted spark config (4 coil packs). I don't see any reason why you could not use two of them in parallel to run a COP setup.

Re: Running 351W with Modular 5.4 PCM
Does anyone know if you can use GM LS2 coils with the EECV that would have had two pin connectors on their original COP. The two pins tells me that there is no driver inside that coil. The LS2 coils appear to have the drivers built in. I'm thinking that if the EEC has the drivers it may also be looking at current draw or pulses or something to help its diagnosics capabilities. I would rather the EEC think it is in its stock roll as much as possible. So has anyone set up a coil near plug using two pin coils? Any ideas on where to find coils for this?
Thank

Howdy Jman,
Someone else might have better luck but after trying for several weeks I switched to coil packs.

The ECCV I'm planning to use has 8 separate coil outputs. Its from a 2000 gas super duty truck with 5.4 triton. The igniter/driver thing has me wondering. So the EECV (you have) does it have 4 built in drivers? Were you having the EEC drivers wired to the LS1 driver inputs?
Thanks

Re: Running 351W with Modular 5.4 PCM
Howdy Jman,
The Ford ecu doesn't use a coil driver. It operates like an "Ol' School" coil where the coil is always hot and the ecu breaks the (-) circuit to collapse the field which fires the coil.
The LS1/2 coils and the GM system uses a coil driver to fire the coils.
They just will not work with an EEC-V ecu.
There are numerous other coils on the market that will work just fine for your conversion. Any of the MSD, Accel, etc 2-wire coils can be made to work in a Coil Near Plug setup.
I thought about doing the same thing but for now I'm using Ford OEM coil packs.
