Looking for reman'd A9L. Napa and Advance having trouble finding one. So I looked at Autopartwarehouse dot com and they have one listed but for a "4 speed" which i suppose means an automatic which means it's an "A9P" ??
I am using a QH and BE... Will it matter if i get an A9P ECM? Can i run my old calibrations (for A9L def)? How will i convert them to A9P or can I just run it with an A9L def??

Re: Buying new ECM module for A9L
I looked up Cardone distributors online and two places list:
-part number 78-5611, ID# (s) F3ZF-FB; 4 Spd Trans
But i'm searching for part number, 78-5610 which i assume is A9L:
-part number 78-5610, 5 Speed Trans.; I.D. #(s) E9ZF-BA
Will the 78-5611 work? Is it A9P or A9L? FYI the number on my existing ECM reads: E9AF 14A624 AA. But nowhere can i find a product matching E9AF-AA exactly...

you can use your tune no problem, all the foxbody v8 ecu's are the same, so long as your using a moates device you can swap it no problem
with the fox ecu's being ever so much in demand for reasons that escape me, you can most likely upgrade to the better sn94-95 ecu for cheaper, only requires a few pins be moved around and that you copy your tune info over
heres the info

Re: Buying new ECM module for A9L
With a Moates QH or chip, you can use a GUF1/A9P EEC with a GUFB/A9L tune. I've done it with no problems and I could tell absolutely no difference between the two EECs.
This is NOT true for TwEECer users. TwEECer users must keep the tune consistent with the EEC's strategy. I could never get my GUFB tune to run on a GUF1/A9P or GUFA/A9S EEC.
Also note, there were a LOT of different GUFx EECs out there because the GUFx strats ranged from 89-93. For a complete list, check out EEC Analyzer's website for a list:
http://eecanalyzer.net/index.php/strate ... librations
I would expect each tune variant of the various GUFx EECs have a different part number. Looking on AutoZone's website, they indicate they are still available, but the price has jumped from $100 to $160. They still have a core charge of $50.
Looking on eBay, it appears the going rate for used Mustang GT EECs has also jumped. But there are plenty to be had.
I tend to agree with decipha that if upgrading to 94-95 Mustang GT (CBAZA) is an option, now is a good time to do it. The conversion isn't that difficult and the def file isn't that expensive. The aftermarkets still sell those EECs and on eBay, they are noticeably cheaper.

I've been trying to sell my reman A9L on the Corral and nobody will touch it. The part number is 78-4352. I'd sell it for $100 plus shipping.

Re: Buying new ECM module for A9L
Thanks for the input guys. I went with the 78-5611 for $149 from discount autoparts dot com. Wasn't too distraught with that price. And didn't feel like messing with plug etc.
I recently upgraded to the QH from the Tweecer because of intermittent relay flipping and errant MAF calculation reading (MAF kg/hr goes exorbitantly high and car sputters way rich, while MAFV logging normally). With QH it's doing the same thing. After messing with the connection to the J3 port it seems its just a contact issue that can be improved somewhat after wiggling chip on J3 port. Mind you i have cleaned the J3 port several times; it was clean for the QH and Tweecer. But problem is still there, just in different degrees of intensity depending on chip position. The history of my setup though is that I was using the F3 Moates chip before the Tweecer or QH and had plugged and unplugged the chip numerous times. My guess is that this has worn down the electrodes and is why i'm getting intermittent connections between the QH and Tweecer.
So I figure a new ECM with a fresh set of electrodes and now won't be pluggin and unplugging nearly as much should set me straight for a while.
