some help with a 92gt roller block

Post by area302 » Tue Sep 27, 2016 9:21 pm

picked up the block, no problems with it, just a swap.
not sure what the casting date is, or if they just set it wrong because it was a monday.
F1SE BB
date 1J31 1=1991 J=September 31=31st (not 31 days in September? ) maybe in Roman times when September had 31 days. time travelling block maybe, or hangover monday september 30, 1991? but wait, September 13, 1991 was a friday....
It was a five speed, has forged trw pistons and forged rods. first half of 92 had forged pistons, second half of 92 had hypereutectic pistons.

The date the block-design was commissioned and the model vehicle it went in don't have to align. It's not uncommon to find E-era (80s) parts on F-era (90s) vehicles. Take the E7TE heads for example. E7 suggests 1987. But they ran E7TE heads on Windsors well into the 90s.

Although the date-stamp does appear to be WTF.

I have no clue how Ford codes months, but J is the 12th character in the alphabet which, if the coding mechanism made sense would be December which does have 31 days.

The month chart says they skip the letter I, that puts j=september.
I was really hoping it was wrong.
I found this youtube video of the windsor plant before it was demolished, these guys would know.
my other two engines were cast in Cleveland casting plant.
this block was WCP, windsor casting plant
