I am new to tuning need a coach

Post by SaTiVa550 » Thu Jun 08, 2017 3:20 am

Hello,

I have a 2000 Ford Contour SVT. It has 3.0 Duratec swap. With all the SVT parts.

I also have Advantage III and the Xcal 4.

I was having a lot of issues with the EGR system so I have deleted it.

I need help to pass emissions first. I know the car will run like junk so I plan on reflashing it in the parking lot after I pass, if that is even possible. Then on to best performance.

I am not looking for you to tune it for me. I need someone to just answer my questions, Review logs, help me to know when it is equipment failure etc. I want to learn and am not afraid to do the work. I just need good honest answers with maybe some reading suggestions.

Thank you, for your time!
Regis

Unless your questions are very related, I'd recommend starting each question as their own thread so they can be individually titled, tracked, answered, and searched-for. And since this thread doesn't actually have any questions, I'm moving it to the lounge.

Thank you for such quick responses!

I am currently logging idle and no load slow revs. I am not even sure if that Is what you call it.

I am trying to dial in the MAF Transfer Function @ idle first.

How do I know what to adjust first?

Thinking in trends; I would watch A/F and MAF counts....right?

I would look for anything .96 to 1.05ish lambda......Pick the lowest or highest in the trendinding area?

math as follows:...?
take ACT AF, divided by COM AF then multiplied by the air mass corresponding to the voltage or counts......?

go back to normal fueling, save, reflash, relog, rinse and repeat.........

Or do I do this for every single point that is below where I want it?....then do the replash and relog........I would think that this would not be necessary because 1v is 1#min....??

I think if I could get to some adjusting a lot of things that I have been reading will click. Unfortanately I am the only one I know trying or wanting to tune on their own. Those who do know how to tune in my area(far and few) for some reason are very stingy and unwilling to help......

Ultimatley I am looking to PM logs and lengthy explinations where by someone would then instruct me as to why I have no F'n clue on what I am doing with my life!!!

lol!.....thanks again!!!
