Innovate DLG-1 and Binary Editor

Post by Doublezranch » Tue Jun 27, 2017 12:25 pm

Hello everyone.

I am incredibly new to tuning and am starving for information. I need your advice. Does anyone know if the Innovate DLG-1 (dual channel wideband) will work with Binary Editor? Better yet, do any of you have this set up?

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

It should work with Binary Editor as long as you have 2 0-5 volt references to log or use a DataQ or similar.

According to Innovate, the DGL-1 kit comes with a LC-1 controller. I've read in the FAQ's section that LC-1 controllers work with Binary Editor through a analog connection to the EGR. Would this still hold true and read the double sensor or would I need an additional analog 0-5 volt reference to tap into? Any suggestions on the second 0-5 volt reference?

You can use the egr for the 1st 5 volt but would need a second.

If your running speed density you can use the maf. You may be able to use the bap sensor. If you purchase a Moates Super Logger than you would be abke to wire it straight. If not, than you can add a dataQ to your tweecer /quarter horse.

It is a speed density car. Even though the LC-1 controller has 2 analog wires, will I still need a dataq to log the info or can I program BE to read both? For example 1 on the EGR and the other on the MAP.

If its speed density then your good. BE can handle it. You will just need to connect analog out from both sensors 1 to the 5v reference on the egr and the second to the 5v reference on the bap. In BE you just need to define egr as afr and bap as afr, set up the transfer function and create 2 digital or analog gauges for the datalog display.

I'm going to buy the Wideband tonight. I have the quarterhorse. My 15 year old built this car. 87 Mustang GT. He really poured his heart and soul into it. It's beautiful. I wanna repay him by being able to learn tuning so he can achieve the goals he wants too.

One last question. I've been waiting to register my BE until I bought a wideband so I could choose the right logger. Since BE offers several loggers with your download would I be safe in assuming I could choose the Innovate logger or will I have to download Logworks as well?

If your using the QH You don't need to register innovate since you will be logging through the ecm 5 volt references. Same applies if you choose to use AEM or PLX..etc etc. You wont need logworks but you will need lm programmer which is free from Innovate. If you haven't purchased the QH yet, look into the Superlogger in addition to the QH because its includes its own 5 volt inputs to log which is useful for fuel pressure and boost etc. etc. down the road.

Guys...I'll be honest that thing looks scary. I am so crazy new at this. I have to keep one hand on the computer to keep the room from spinning. I'm trying to just understand all of this so I don't mess anything up.

The superlogger coupled with the QH will give you enough 5volt channels to datalog fuel pressure, boost/vac, oil pressure, wideband and many others without having to disable your egr, bap...etc.etc. It also enable you to datalog without having the laptop hooked up and sitting on the passenger seat. You can also use the tunerview as a secondary display or if you purchase the Bluetooth adaptor you can purchase Tunerview Google playstore for your android device and use your cellphone or tablet as a display in the car. I use tunerview and an 8" tablet in my car when I am not using my laptop to datalog with. Pretty cool stuff.

Fear not.

SL has many features to grow into, no harder to log with than any other device.

Ordered the wideband last night. I guess now the next step is to study the install instructions. Where do you guys mount your controller boxes? I would like to mount mine in the car to protect it. Any suggestions?

Depends on how long your leads are. My control box is under my brake booster in the frame rail.
