Australian EEC strategies working in US software & hardware

Post by 289Hilux » Wed Jan 03, 2018 4:43 am

Can some one please help me out. I have been running a J3 chip for some time now. I use a EEC IV from a EB GT Falcon with a box code 2DCA.
I have now changed to the Moates QH, seemed the way forward after reading about its capabilities. Still using Tp RT
It was a small task to get my tune and XDF file to play nice in QH and load my old tune. had to trim the bin down to 56K from 256k and tell the xdf where the data started. Took some trial and error, with some help from Dave @ Moates.
The issues I am trying to work on now are getting an ADX to work with my stuff so I can utilize the data log features. The main reason for the move to QH. I have tried a few combinations with no luck. Can't seem to find any stuff relating to The Aus EEC IV.
My next thought was a swap to EEC editor and EEC analyzer. The cost is slightly of putting as I cant find any info or strategies that may seem to work with my set up. I don't want to make the leap if I cant be sure it will work out for me.
I am not a computer wiz or a software engineer by any means. I did email Clint Garrity, No help was offered.
His answer to my question was - Yes BE will work with any EEC as long as you create the strategy file in excel or port the XDF over to the xls format.
How do I do that?
Has any one solved the issue? How do I get the US strategy to play nice with a Aus EEC?

Cheers Richard, in Aus needing help.

BE or TP or whatever require a patch and payloads defined so that logging works.

Post up what you have now.
Cheers

You have a few options for data logging with an EB EEC using a QH, but you will need to spend some money for one of them.

1: Message Derek Fenwick (sailorbob on here) to see if he has a Binary Editor strategy file for that EEC, it is closely related to GUFB and the hardware is almost identical to a few of the U.S EECs, he most likely will have one, and has been helpful to me in the past.
He has a strategy file for the EF/EL 5.0s that I use and it is pretty well broken out, I also use one of his strategy files for a U.S Thunderbird EEC,
and they both work fine.
I f he does have one you will need to by Binary Editor from Clint, and also a strategy file from Derek, you can buy EA as well, it is a useful tool, but is not essential.

2: If you have a QH just use a GUFB strategy and A9L bin to tune with, use whatever software you like, I use BE mainly.
This will work no problem I have done it a few times, on 1 NC Fairlane pre smartlock, 1 NC Fairlane with smartlock, and 2 EB XR8s both pre smartlock.
Off memory the EB GT had smartlock and no BAP sensor, a GUFB based tune should still work, it is the same basic EEC as the smartlock Fairlane I have tried.
What other numbers are on the EEC?
Mainly a number like SFI-MA15 all the EB/NCs I have tried have been SFI-MA15s.

3: Try and find some who can get the strategy you have to work.

If Derek has a strategy for BE that would be the best option.

Cheers
Chris.

Hi Chris
Thanks for your reply. Most helpful.
I will try option 2, seems easiest to try first.
One other question I have.
What came first, software or hardware, who developed what to work with each other?

Cheers Richard.

Hardware came first. Then I think sailorbob created the patch with live datalogging working in BE using the 6DFD bin (EL XR8 Manual) and his strategy called NVMG85 works.
