Anyone running the PLX SM-AFR Wideband DM-6 Gauge Combo (GEN4)

Post by Quik5oh » Sun Oct 14, 2018 8:59 pm

I'm looking for a very high quality, accurate, and versatile wideband that integrates as seamlessly and thoroughly as possible with the QH/BE.

Is anyone running this WB02 from PLX with BE and logging with it? https://www.plxdevices.com/Wideband-O2- ... 002719.htm

Are the PLX WB's as plug and play as the Innovate WB02s are wth the QH and BE? Or are the Innovate widebands the only brand that has the ability to fully integrate with BE?

I had PLX wideband, and iMFD cable. I bought license for it in BE, never got it working. PLX don't have driver for it, BE install folder has some drivers that I managed to install (win 10 and Be2012). But I never got it logging, so now I'm back in Innovate. Shame, because I liked PLX more, faster and possibility to link more sensors. I still have PLX vacuum/boost logger, but I have to log it through EVP-signal or purchase yet another additional logging device. And I have only 3 usb ports.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sounds like Innovate is the only game in town for full integration with BE then? Is Innovate best accommodated simply because they developed drivers to work with BE?

The innovate protocòl is open, and relatively simple. Innovate stuff was cheap so plenty of customers willing to pay Clint an upgrade fee to have the data stream available in BE.

While this does not have BE support, it has an open protocol on RS232 that is simpler than innovate. Additionly it has a CAN protocol that is open as well. BE can be purchased with CAN enabled but that does not mean the AEMnet version will work without further programming.

Just a matter of asking Clint and spending whatever the extra is.

PLX reply for my question " Thank you for contacting us. The only driver files we host on our site is for DM-100/200 utility and the R series loggers.
We do not have a driver for iMFD USB."
I bought PLX licence from Clint, but I can't get it logging. Only error I have when I start to log is no communication.

Thanks John and FinnCobra.

Did you ask PLX if they would build an iMFD USB driver by any chance? Do you think Clint could help with the logging issue since you have the license or is that due to the lack of a driver from PLX?

I know nothing about this product, but is there any chance the USB version is just using an FTDI or Prolific USB serial chip that will create a COM port? If so the problem might be that the FTDI driver just needs to be installed...again assuming that's what the product is based on which wouldn't surprise me as that would likely be the cheapest way to migrate existing serial products to USB.

That's a very good question... Is there anyone on the site that may know the answer to the question above?

BE needs to see cable under name "PLX iMFD USB", "MM232R USB MODULE", I got the first. I assume that it is ftdi-cable, that was on some forum, I don't remember source. FTDI drivers were in plx website, but then it shows under different name. Name must be correct for BE's auxiliary license to recognize ?
