2 years ago, I purchased a Quarterhorse & BE package.

It came with a dongle that I have never used. At the time, I was deep into studying bin and def files acquired from efidynotuning.com and I needed a Moates Quarterhorse right then to use with the files and TunerPro RT. This was the only way to purchase a QH at the time because moates.net shut down without any indication that they would be coming back.
Now I'm interested in the BE side of things. I'm not even sure what I purchased. I have the peppermint gumdrop looking dongle from Core Tuning.
What is this that I have and what do I do with it?
I'm a bit hung up on installing some of the "side" software. I will do a separate post for installation guidance. Thanks

Plug the dongle into an usb port when you want to run BE. It holds the BE license and can be plugged into any machine you want to run BE on.

No 2 is all the BE definitions that core have done...do they have a list somewhere??

Thanks, I've seen the list. If I can get the proper version of Adobe Acrobat reader installed for my Windows 8.1, then I will be moving forward with the

Apparently, there is a 2 year old email on the desktop pc at work that I need to use this. Also, I'm not getting how you download the strategy file from Core Tuning to use in BE. That may have to do with the misplaced email. This is all new to me.

I'm slowly getting familiar with the Binary Editor software and have most of the companion software/s worked out.
I've been watching Mr Leech's #6 video and I'm about halfway through it, using it as a guide and pausing along the way to switch over to my Binary Editor running on my laptop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_h9MDz8Tzk
I'm going step by step. I'm almost halfway, 5:54 into the video and I'm to the part of loading opening and loading a strategy. When I click on that, then the little screen C:/Binary Editor/DEF, the DEF file is empty. Did I not load the software properly? I assume that one or more files are free.
Can someone very familiar with BE, help guide me through this?
I will be back on here in the evening central time USA. Thanks in advance for any and all help with this.

Unlikely to be something you have done during install if you have done a default install.

I assume that one or more files are free.

Definitions and bins can go anywhere you like, so if you have downloaded a definition and bin, navigate to the download location to open those.

Ok, I've seemed to have had a breakthrough when I checked for updates. It added files to the DEF folder.
EDITED at 5:25 pm central time: Thanks John. I'm looking at the GUFB stuff. I'm used to calling these similar files by different names after looking at bin/def files for the past 2.5 years. I'll figure it out little by little.

One last question within this topic.
I loaded the two companion files GUFB.xlsx and A9L.BIN. I have been looking around at them, but I haven't made any changes.
Can I simply close the BE program, and will they be there when I reopen it, or am I supposed to take them out of BE somehow?
Beginner questions I know, and I do appreciate the help. I'll ask an EGR delete question later sometime.

Just close BE.

It'll open the same files next time you start BE.

I also purchased the dongle package and am trying to get it functional, as far as I know all the software is downloaded, ec and be load up no problem until i plug the dongle in, once it is plugged in it will take much longer to start loading get half way through the loading bar then just disappear and nothing ever happens, also the first time I plugged the dongle in nothing happened except the windows device plugged in sound. does anyone know what the problem may be and has anyone ever had this sort of problem? Note: this is my first time ever trying to tune anything and I have hit such a discouraging road block on day 1. all videos i have seen just say that the dongle is super easy self explanatory and they never show what happens or how it works because i assume its that easy.
