I wondered that too. I like it here much better. Maybe there needs to be more announcements of the new forum.

I don't know, but I kind of like that chat feature that's on there. That's kind of kool. But I never knew if anyone ever used it.

I think more announcements need to be made. Maybe a link to it on the main tweecer.com website as well?

I think Mike could also put a link to this forum at the bottom of each message. I know I've seen a similar thing on the EEC-Tuner list.

we could just announce it on the yahoo forums everyday until we get no new messages.... :)

I think this UBB system can help us track information easier for all those 'redundant' questions that I like to ask.

I actually prefer the yahoo system. I get daily digest emails, which when filtered, automagically sorts and organizes all the EEC tuning info onto my local drive. This comes in really handy when I have the laptop in a car somewhere, and I need to search for info on something. Yes, the yahoo search tool sucks, but my Netscape Messanger search tools work very well.

Also, the yahoo group still has a place for files (binaries, etc.), links, pictures, etc., so don't write it off yet.

I'm trying to see if Mike would like me to write some binary/cff/bin file handling web interface so people can post their bins and other assorted data. He is very busy lately though and I haven't heard from him yet. With the exception of not being able to get a "digest" email, I believe the new format is far better in every other way.

Ed,

the only problem I see with the digest approach, is that:

If I am away from the computer for more than three days, I am buried under pages and pages of messages. I am pretty good at sorting through the unnecessary, but it becomes time consuming when I have to open and close emails.

here I can look for the threads I want to watch, I get notification, and I have a Copy paste command in concise form into my files.

I think the answer is that not everyone will want to use the UBB and not everyone wants the mailing list.

I am all for this forum being the main TwEECer/Tuner resource and would love to dump my Yahoo Tuner/TwEECer list, but it's not going to happen. I've gottent too much feedback from people who like the mailing list approach. I do plan on finding another mailing list option (preferably one that won't break the bank) to host the Tuner/TwEECer list. Then people who want a mailing list can have that and the others can come here.

I do plan on sending as many people as I can here, but I like leaving the mailing list as an option.
Thanks,
Raymond

I think having a mailing list option is a bad idea. It is going to segregate data and make it difficult to pool it all together. The people who like the message list just have not gotten used to the BB format.

My $.02

I understand, and we can just drop the mailing list altogether. But we risk losing a LOT of important contributors, some who do not own a TwEECer or Tuner.

I don't want to take that chance.

I seriously doubt anyone actively involved on the list would simply stop participating if we switched to a different (read: better) format. They might complain a bit, but once they realize the benefits they would be happy once again.

I respect your opinion, but I've known some of these people for over 2 years. I should also point out that I am referring to my (EEC-Tuner/TwEECer) list not the TwEECer list.

I want one single resource too, don't get me wrong. BUT I do not want to lose any one in the process.
Thanks,

There are no ad's in my mailing list. I paid them off a long time ago :)
