Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Engineering or ms?

Post by Paul » Sat Jun 18, 2005 9:45 pm

Does the Tweecer take engineering notation or ms when inputting Injector Breakpoint as a function in the A9L?

For instance:
1. Engineering: 1.45
2. Milliseconds: 2.0

3.0448 is the stock value. However, in the A9? series this is a fuel trim and not a true injector breakpoint so I just left it at stock even with 24# and 42# injectors.

That I knew, I was just wondering what the Tweecer takes.

So is "that" in milliseconds or engineering notation?

Engineering notation. For example 3.0448 = 3.0448e-05, If I remember correctly....

Well,

I think it is actually in Milliseconds, but not because it is a fuel adder. so 3.0448 is what you put in Tweecer and it means 3.0448 x10^-3 seconds which is engineering notation or 3.0448 mS = 0.0030448 seconds. You're making this way too complicated?

Hope this helps, Don

I don't think so. I asked because 1.45-E5 does not look the same as 2 ms. EEC Analyzer lists engineering and ms, I wanted to know which one Tweecer took and thanks to Dale McPeters I now know.

Ok, if it works then great. However, 3.0448e-05 is 30.448 uS or microseconds versus milliseconds, so it doesn't make sense to me. Just trying to understand what units they are using. 3.0448e-03 would be milliseconds.

Hey I did not mean to start an argument here........

Here is what I remember it to be as I have not messed with the software much in about 3-4 months........

INJECTOR_BREAKPOINT_VS_BATTERY_VOLTAGE # Injector Breakpoint table (Voltage, lbs/rev)
( 4095.94, 3.04478e-05 ) ( 0, 3.04478e-05 ) ( 0, 3.04478e-05 )
( 0, 3.04478e-05 ) ( 0, 3.04478e-05 ) ( 0, 3.04478e-05 )
( 0, 3.04478e-05 ) ( 0, 3.04478e-05 )

The above is a snipit from the old EEC-Tuner software....as you can see the engineering notation 3.04478e-05 is lbs/rev.

Hope this helps.

You didn't start an arguement, you answered my question. That's all I wanted to know, if Tweecer was looking for the engineering or milliseconds value.

It really was as simple as that.

It's neither engineering notation (which is just in exponents that match notation - IE 10^-3 = mili or 10-6 = micro - exponents are always multiples of three) OR milliseconds according to Dale. It's lbs/revolution - which is a very small number 3.04 * 10^-5 lbs/revolution...

Hmmm, before this gets to be a 4 or 5 page discussion of lb/rev, ms, exponents, phases of the moon etc...

Did anyone read my initial post? I believe Dale did as he answered the question for me.

Honestly, ALL I wanted to know was engineering value or ms value. Now that it has been answered and everyone involved understands what the question really was, I'd like to thank you all for your input and bid you good luck in your follow on discussion.

Problem is, miliseconds is engineering notation too (10^-3 seconds) - the question was not clear - sorry, I guess I'm just an engineer busting your balls 8) :P

My turn to bust yours then ;) I was asking about what the Tweecer was looking for ;) Anyways, the question was answered and my curiosity satisfied for now. Thanks again.

Cougar5.0,

Technically you are correct on your math equations but that is not exactly what he was trying to ask. Maybe I should have said it like this...........

"It is more like an engineering value than it is milliseconds as it is in lbs/rev"

I said it was lbs/rev if you look at my post above and the snipit from the old EEC-Tuner software. It has (Voltage, lbs/rev)..............

Is that better? Does my math grade go up now?

I just do not want to get into different phases of the moon as Paul stated above............

(Edit- I flunked English....... )

No argument here. I was looking at the injector breakpoint function and not injector breakpoint vs battery voltage mostly because that is what was asked

Don,

You were looking at the correct item, as the injector breakpoint function (under the Functions tab) is the one that relates to battery voltage.

I just did not word my replies well enough for Couger5.0 to comprehend what I was trying to get at.....I guess I will have to do better, as I do not like flunking class........

I wasn't criticizing you actually - the original question just doesn't make sense from a technical standpoint, that's all. I actually had the same question, but seeing as the original A9L program has 10^-5 scale units, it can't be milliseconds, so I figured it out on my own - it'a a good question actually! It's not something I want to argue about anyway - I was hoping to help but I think I just made things worse. Fughet about it

I did not take it as a criticism at all as sometimes it is good to have a discussion/ribbing etc. like this as now Don and yourself have listed some good equations etc that others may need in the future. Besides I needed a short break from all the numbers & calculations that I am working on today at my real job. I try not to get too technical anymore as it makes my head hurt....... :? .....and sometimes confuses the ones that I try to help. And that is not a good thing.

I am just glad that Paul actually got the answer that he was looking for that is the main thing.

By the way if you have not noticed it takes quite a bit to upset me........did you not notice the ribbing that I was giving you about math & class?
