First off-it really looks great and works great for the most part. I have come up with a couple of bugs-maybe they have something to do with my computer-HP Omnibook 233, Win ME.
I'm using the 1.20B software-and the latest everything else available for DL.
1) It will not let me 'Write to Tweecer' more than once without me having to restart Caledit-it says 'Tweecer not available' if I quit than restart it'll work-once.
2) CalCon crashes more often than not, often in the middle of a datalog. Sometimes it takes the entire OS down with it.
3) When CalCon does work-some of the parameters selected in the payload file do not appear on the either RT displays, such as AODE Gear and a couple of other things.
4) The datalog files when opened in Excel, have 198* for every entry for ECT temps-unlikely.
5) It appears to write which gear is selected for the AODE into the file, except it generates numbers all the way up to 6. Is there a code?
If you need any more info on my setup, lemme know.
Thanks,
Don

Re: Several problems with the software...
Win ME has some problems from what I hear, and is not officially supported...so before I go in and try to explain the others this could very well be the source of the problems. I would suggest Win98SE or WinXP.Don 95Vert wrote:First off-it really looks great and works great for the most part. 1.20B or 1.20B3? There is a big difference, 1.20B did not work properly for me on my sn95. Also, what do you mean "latest everything else". The only things you should install are the "Borland Database Engine" and of course RT120B3.Don 95Vert wrote: I'm using the 1.20B software-and the latest everything else available for DL.
Odd...I've not seen that before. Usually, if it works once, it will work twice. I would try reinstalling the software. This could be related to my first point, though.Don 95Vert wrote: 1) It will not let me 'Write to Tweecer' more than once without me having to restart Caledit-it says 'Tweecer not available' if I quit than restart it'll work-once.
This sounds like an OS problem. You may need to reinstall (probably not what you wanted to hear but thats what I would do).Don 95Vert wrote: 2) CalCon crashes more often than not, often in the middle of a datalog. Sometimes it takes the entire OS down with it.
Not quite sure how to answer this one, did you build your custom payload correctly? Reference this thread if you need help.Don 95Vert wrote: 3) When CalCon does work-some of the parameters selected in the payload file do not appear on the either RT displays, such as AODE Gear and a couple of other things.
This sounds like its related to the previous question.Don 95Vert wrote: 4) The datalog files when opened in Excel, have 198* for every entry for ECT temps-unlikely.
hm...whenever you change values, make sure you use either TAB or an arrow key to go to the next value. If you use the mouse, it will not work properly.Don 95Vert wrote: 5) It appears to write which gear is selected for the AODE into the file, except it generates numbers all the way up to 6. To be totally honest it sounds like your OS needs to be formatted and reinstalled. I bet the majority if not all of your problems would be fixed by doing that.
Hope this helps...

Thanks, I'll have to consider either going to XP or downgrading to 98. My laptop doesn't have a CD ROM drive so I'm going to have to install the new OS therough my network. That could be dangerous... I'm using the 120B version-everything that's available on the Tweecr Site.
Thanks for the Reply.

We do NOT support ME, though some people have had success with it, it is NOT listed as a supported OS. I would downgrade to 98SE or win2k. I would summise that it is probably an OS/USB issue, can you try another PC/laptop with a supported OS to see wether itis an OS problem?? How long ago did you download 1.20B? We have had several 1.20 Betas with 3 being the latest (January release).

Thanks Mike, I may try another laptop-if I can borrow one. I downloaded the software 2 weeks ago, so it ought to be the latest. My laptop can barely support XP, so I'll have to downgrade to 98. I bought the computer over a year ago at a show for like $150 and specifically looked for one with USB because I knew I'd have Tweecer someday.
I'll do the downgrade next week though, I can still USE CalEdit this weekend at the NMRA race-and I'll need it to fine tune shift points.

Well if the laptop is mostly for tweecing, then definately downgrade, win98SE is pretty stable and not nearly as resource intensive as the NT Kernel based OS's. You will think you have a fast laptop with it installed.
Good luck at the races...

ECT Reading
The datalog for the ECT reads only once and stays at that temp until I re-start the engine and CalCon. Everything else works when I datalog. No other problems. Am I doing something wrong?
