You're using the LPT software, that is the problem. I can't use the RT software with my LPT, I guess it goes both ways. Later.

when I use the usb software it says unable to open tweecer. I think this is an issue with my OS (win XP). There is a patch out there, I'm just waiting on M.G. to see my request for it or for another Lpt user who has had the same issue to help me out. Man, I really wanted to get started sooner. Oh well.

I think I misunderstood your post. I thought you were using a USB Tweecer. You've got the LPT unit, right? Sorry. I'm using Win98 with little trouble, my tired laptop couldn't handle XP, so I've got little to offer I guess...

Thats cool!
Thats ok bud, I appreciate the effort. I decided since no one has the answer readily available, that I would just buy a second hand laptop and install win98se since everyone seems to have luck with that OS. Are you familiar with the requirements to run the caledit program? Do you think a 200 Mhz processor, 128 meg of ram and a 2.3g hard drive will be sufficient? By the way, are you USB or LPT?

Hah! I've got a P70, 24mb ram, 810mb hd with win98, and it runs fine. Does it make any difference if you run Caledit under XP in Win98 compatability mode? That's never worked for me, but it might be worth a try.
BTW, I'm an LPT user. The USB units weren't out yet, and I couldn't stand another day with my old Speedbrain. My Tweecer was even used when I bought it.
You could put a dual boot setup on your laptop, so that you can boot to win98 instead of xp on startup, but I'm pretty sure that you have to install 98 first, them install xp to different partition on the same drive. Not too hard to do, but it takes a long time... That's how I run my home computer. Later.

I dont especially care for XP now that I have it. My new PC, which I bought since my HD in my old machine died and I couldn't go bigger without an adapter, came with win XP (and maybe that was one of the reasons I picked this machine) but now that I have had to replace several pieces of hardware and had to "fool" the OS to recognize others, I think I should have stuck with the 98 I used to curse for all the lockups and etc.
Granted XP is practicaly bullet proof and boots up in the blink of an eye. Its just a big adjustment I guess. This thing with the TwEECer not working was the icing on the cake!
Anyway, my point is that I will probably just go with 98 on my laptop since its plug and play. Thanks for the feedback!!
OH YEAH, I haven't tried caledit with 98 compatibility. I will try that right now. I'll let you know how it goes.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! The 98 compatibility allows the software to find the tweecer, now its a new error. I'm gonna get back on it now and try to figure this one out. Thanks again!
EDIT___________________
Well, it found it and read it. It still gives the BDE error ($251E) "error occured while attempting to initialize BDE.
ALSO: after attempting to read the twEECer, the software says "EEPROM read complete" but throws up an "invalid or unsupported binary image" This seems to indicate a false reading.... .like its not actually seeing the program on the hardware. I further support this theory with 1.) the fact that I get the same response with or without the power supply plugged into the unit. And 2.) The board REV reads UNKNOWN.
Thoughts?
