need some SERIOUS help

Post by tweecedout » Tue Jul 15, 2003 12:11 am

Here is my problem, whenever I run any setting besides the stock position, the car will back fire very hard at about 4k rpm. When it backfires, the tachometer shoots to 6k rpm and back down to 2k rpms almost instantley. I have tried running the stock setting that was programed into other switch positions but still no luck. I have a 95 gt and I am running the wh40 (stock program). Please help me because this tweecer R/T is a waste of 500 bucks if it doesnt work. Thank you.

Dump the stock WH4O, and try running it with the J4J1 program. Then input your injector size, MAF function and see what happens.

The TwEECer is a good product and definately works, It's the only thing that has my car running.

Your set up sounds similar to Daren Woodall's and he has a web site with a program that he runs that might be of help to you. Just check the memberlist and he has a link to his web site where you can get the file.

Hope it helps

By the look of your mods list, your a prime candidate for the J4J1 (Cobra) tune. There are a lot of us going this route with instantaineous drivability benefits.

First things first though. Be sure your having success reading and writing to TwEECer. Insure all connections are clean and secure. Try your first tests with the processor laying loose in the floorboard. Cables are easily dislodged during reinstallation. Start by writing the stock calibration to your #1 custom position and see that the car will run in that position. Change something small like idle RPM and re-write that calibration to #1 or try #2. When you feel confident here, move on to the next step of tuning the car.

In your case, download the J4J1.bin, or better yet, download mine that includes Mike's recommended TwEEC's. http://home.austin.rr.com/dwoodall/tuning_notes.htm Then enter 30 for "Injector Slope High"/"Injector Slope Low" and a "MAF Transfer" for your C&L. Flash this calibration to TwEECer and reset the processor by disconnecting the battery for a little while. You'll notice significant drivablity improvements right away (darn good idle, smooth on-off throttle transitions, no more popping under decel, no detonation, etc.). Don't expect power increases from the J4J1. It is actually a "softer" tune then the GT. Don't sweat this. HP is about a hundred times easier to tune then drivibility.

Your now ready to start unleashing the potential of your combo.

Oh one more thing... you didn't mention headers in your list. Full length headers can have a considerable impact at your tuning approach.

thank you both very much, I am continuing to mess around with the tweecer and the problem seems to be gettting better. I also am going to try out that cobra file. I will keep you updated.

Daren, i have shorty headers so I will change the exaust pulse delay. Thanks again.
