Dyno run last night
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg43/boss96/dyno.jpg
Took about 5 runs to dial it in, mostly maf adjustments. This was the first time I tuned and drove the car on the dyno, lots of fun :)
Hopefully you can see the graph well enough, boost was logged, it's interesting to see the procharger P1SC stops making boost after about 12lbs. The a/f shown is from the wideband the shop uses, it was reading about 1 point leaner than my new AEM in the car so we tuned with my wideband.

Re: Dyno run last night
Nice numbers! The boost leveling off could also be the belt slipping a bit under the heavy load.

Re: Dyno run last night
Thanks!
I don't think it was belt slip, I have an 8 rib setup on it now. The other reason I think it simply runs out of steam is I am using a 3.1" pullie, pretty small for a procharger.
Also, I was pretty happy with the PMAS maf, it is a ProTube design. I was concerned that it might peg (I got it used with 42lb cal) so I used a maf extender set to "1", the smallest amount of reduction. Turns out the meter went up to about 4 volts so I did not have to worry.
I was able to run about 16* of timing, the intercooler works very well, highest discharge temp was 120* at the end of a run, most of the time it was less.
50lb injectors were at 82% duty cycle.
My in car a/f was about 11.3 and hit 10.9 at the very top. I understand that on the street I may see a leaner a/f compared to the dynojet so I left it alone.

Re: Dyno run last night
I agree with the blower being tapped out. Most 2v combos I have seen max out with a P1SC at a little under 500 wheel hp.
Re: Dyno run last night
Well, good deal then - Procharger doesn't seem to make their compressor maps available so I am not able to look theirs up to check where they start losing efficiency. I guess you've taken it to the limit - that's more than enough power anyway!

Re: Dyno run last night
I have a P1sc on my mustang, it was tapped at around 7-8psi on a heavy breathing motor and that was with a 2.75" pulley. I then went with a D1SC and increased the pulley size to a 3.25 and make around 9psi at 6000. I will be installing a 2.95" pulley and this is the smallest i will go. I still have the 2.75" but when i do the math i am on the edge of overspinning the blower if i rev past 6400rpm.
If you want to see how much more you have left without taking into account efficiency (because you cant since they do not publish maps, as stated above) if you do not already know the formula its simple math.
Givens
Max Blower impellar speed = 62,000RPM
P1SC & D1SC internal ratio = 4.10
if you want to calc you smallest pulley you can use take your engines MAX rpm you rev to ex: 6500 rpm
6500* (crank pulley diameter/blower pulley diameter)*4.10
So in my case on a 94/95 Sn95 we have a 6.5" crank pulley
6500*(6.5"/3.25")*4.10 = 53300 blower speed 53300<62000
So if i want to see what the smallest pulely would be using same rpm
6500*(6.5" / Procharger pulley" ) * 4.10 = 62000 rpm
Procharger pulley" = [ (6500 * 6.5 * 4.1) / 62000 ]
or formula terms for P1SC or D1SC
Procharger min pulley size" = [ (Max engine RPM * Crank pulley diameter * 4.10) / 62000 ]

Re: Dyno run last night
Hi Joe. No I am not using the water injection anymore, I'm very disappointed with it, the pump failed on a dyno run (not the one I'm posting about now), replaced the pump, kept it for awhile. Then I got the Procharger with intercooler so I sold it to a friend. The new pump failed too! That does not inspire confidence when you are relying on it to control detonation.
The intercooler works much better than I would have expected, most of the time the iat's are 100 degrees.

Are you using an air to air intercooler with the Procharger? Or air to water?
Now that I've got my 67 running I'm planning on getting back on the 97.
I've got a forged shortblock sitting on the engine stand and a Vortech aftercooler to go into the new buildup.
The wildcard right now is what to do with the virgin SVO heads and stock cams.
Good luck on the new package.

Re: Dyno run last night
Just the procharger intercooler. I believe it is a 3 core one, not the sheetmetal one.
It works great.
Some people I know have used the Ebay ones that are not very expensive with good results too.
I think a set of cams would do you good on your SVO's. Of course you have to make sure not to go over .500 lift.

Re: Dyno run last night
I don't think it's much of a weak point, the svo's flow very well, using some long duration cams even at .5 lift will work great. The extra .05 is not going to make that much difference.
If you really want to use bigger lift you can have the spring pockets machined for more lift.

They seem to have the best rep as far as SVO heads go and can do the spring pocket machining.
With a blank canvas in front of me it's hard to resist the temptation to go "Stage 3" and possibly end up with something not really streetable.
Did you also change your processor?
I believe you were running CDAN4 before?
Re: Dyno run last night
I don't think you would have trouble with it be streetable, I have pretty big cams in my car and with tuning it idles fine.
Still using the stock computer, no problems.

Re: Dyno run last night
Wow, I have a 2 core ProCharger I/C and my air charge temps (IAT) are consistently in the 165-180 range at the end of the quarter on a typical summer night. I wonder why we're so different. Are you running with the Cobra bumper cover? I have the GT.boss96 wrote:Hi Joe. Also, what brand water injection? I was considering that but now having second thoughts based on your comments.

Snow kit. The motors seize for some reason, you can turn the shaft to loosen it up but I don't trust them anymore. And for that matter, almost all the kits use the same motor so it would not be limited to Snow.
The intercooler, perhaps because I have a 3 core? I don't know. I have not logged it at the track but on the dyno it barely got to 120* and only for a moment at the top of the rev range. Around town it is always 100-102*.

Where do each of you have your IAT sensors mounted?
Re: Dyno run last night
Iat mounted near the TB, after the intercooler.

Re: Dyno run last night
Actually I'm a bit confused about this because I think I have 2 - the one I described above and one in the intake manifold. So if this is true which one am I logging? Somebody please put me straight on this. I've had this question a long time and never bothered to ask it.

Re: Dyno run last night
I don't know if you have one or two but if you are not sure which one you are logging, I would disconnect the sensor mounted in the intake and see what happens on Calcon. If it goes to zero then you know you are logging the correct one.

Re: Dyno run last night
Well that was unexpected. I don't know what to tell you about the "mystery sensor" 2shaker.
I was going to venture that the different placement of the sensors lead one to read different for one reason or another. Mostly I was thinking along the lines of a sensor in the intake heat soaking more than one in the intake tube would.
