Tweecer RT, "communication failure?"

Post by NotchYours » Tue Aug 12, 2003 5:02 pm

Have a 92 LX, and have been trying to get Tweecer to do something for the last 2 weeks. All software is loaded correctly, drivers, etc. However, it will not read anything from the Tweecer box? When CalEdit is open, ingnition keyed on, Tweecer plugged in and you click "Read EEC," the status bar gets to about 50% and stops and says "communication failure?" We have tried everything from replacing the USB cable, removing the Tweecer and cleaning the J3 again, to removing and re-installing all programs and drivers. Everything is there! The last suggestion I got was to switch the Tweecer knob over one click to see if the fuel pump came on, and then try to read. The pump came on, but still no reading? Needless to say, I'm almost fed up. If anyone can help me out, or if anyone has heard of this problem; please, PLEASE help!! I read through all of the forums and didn't see any post's that had this exact problem.

Thanks.

Have you tried loading the A9L bin to the tweecer? Heck as far as that goes can you write anything to the tweecer? Unplug it from the ECU and try to read it. Then rewrite the banks (they come preloaded). The tweecer gets power from the usb port when unplugged from the ECU. If this works then the issue is with the ECU or the board connection.

If you can get a program into the tweecer the ECU should work on that program. It is disturbing that it won't read the ECU but all should not be lost.

I just had an A9L go tits up on me this weekend. Had a spare A3M1 (same family) to try and it worked like a champ.

Mike-

I have loaded the A9l bin to CalEdit program, but I cannot write anything to the Tweecer at all!! I have tried to unplug it from the EEC ECU and tried to "Read twEECer" and it still says "communication failure."

Any other suggestions? :?

Thanks,
Kelley

With it unplugged from the ECU you still can't write to it or read from it? Have you tried it on a different laptop or desktop computer. First try it on a different computer to ruel out the possibility of a bad USB port on the computer. If the condition still persists on the other computers then you will need to send it back to Mike for repair, the tweecer more than likely has a bad port.

I have tried it on another laptop. The day I tried to take it over to get looked at, I had our "Tuner" at the shop hook up his own lap top to it and it didn't work on his either, and I know his USB port works because we had just tuned a Motec system a few hours before....

I have just about lost hope in this thing-
