Adjusting A/F EEC-IV blower
I have an 89LX with F cam, headers, V3 blower, TFS TW heads, TFS intake, 30lb injectors, big pump, and Sunnit MAF for 30 lb injectors. I have a wideband O2 and recording device. Only 7-8 PSI boost max.
With MAF adjusted for calibration and injectors set for 30 lbs AFR is about perfect above 5000, but gets the following WOT curve:
3500 9.2
4000 9.3
4500 9.0
5000 8.8
5500 12.25
6000 12.8
6500 13
What is the best way to handle this in an EEC-IV? Change the WOT (open loop) fuel multipler table??

Can anyone help with this?? Is the WOT fuel multiplier table the one to change to adjust fuel at lower RPM??Oldman wrote:I have an 89LX with F cam, headers, V3 blower, TFS TW heads, TFS intake, 30lb injectors, big pump, and Sunnit MAF for 30 lb injectors. Re: Adjusting A/F EEC-IV blower
im having a similar issue and have yet to get the Tweecer to correct the AFR at high rpm and full boost. Im not sure which parameters to modify and correct the lean condition.

I'm having problems understanding the functions because they aren't described as fully as I need in the manual. I also can't seem to get a good dialog going with anyone who wants to "Elmer" first time tuners in how everything interacts.
From what I understand much of it is setting the MAS curve to correct A/F ratio. As I play with my Tweecer and learn (slowly on my own) I'd be happy to share, with the caution I am just learning. :-)
What MAS did you use? I assume you corrected everything with injectors and have the right curve?
Someone suggested I change the load scaling and RPM in functions. The tweecer manual on page 26 describes "load" but does not explain what changing the scaling actually does, so I guess it has to be by experiment.
I thought I could cheat the system and use more displacement to make up for the blower, but I was criticized for that so it must have been a bad idea. :-) If you find any beginners help please let me know!

Re: Adjusting A/F EEC-IV blower
Actually, I would say you're rich at 5000 and below and pretty crispy above that. An AFR of 12.8 or 13.0 is good for NA but not for boost. I would set the WOT multipliers to 1 and set your desired AFR in the fuel table. That way you're not trying to juggle a target and a multiplier to come up with your target. Just set your target in the fuel table and adjust the MAF curve where necessary to hit the target. I shoot for 11.44 everywhere in WOT.

Set WOT functiion multipliers to "1" as this will disallow enrchmen or enleanment based off of WOT and RPM.DrDirt wrote:Actually, I would say you're rich at 5000 and below and pretty crispy above that. -Disable adaptive learning
--Set your adaptive max to 0.5 and adaptive min to 0.5
--Set adaptive min act to 10 and max to 20
-Set stabilized openlop table to tarket AFR 12.5 for NA base
-Datalog MAF voltage and AFR
-If there is a cell that is 13.2 at 5k and commanded AFT is 12.5 utilized the following equation
--13.2/12.5=1.056 then take the airflow at the given voltage and multiply is by 1.056

Re: Adjusting A/F EEC-IV blower
i would enrich whole table and the lean out the bottom end ie work backwords so your safer under boost or increase fuel pressure and then lean out low end of table.

Thanks, Pops. I intended to say set the WOT multipliers to "1" but I must have done some editing and deleted that part accidentally. I edited my post to include that so the waters aren't muddied.

Calibration editor won't do that. I set both to .5 in calibration editor and it changes itself back to 1-Disable adaptive learning
--Set your adaptive max to 0.5 and adaptive min to 0.5
Done--Set adaptive min act to 10 and max to 20
Do you mean "fuel table-base open loop" ?? I'm using calibration editor V1.30-Set stabilized openlop table to tarket AFR 12.5 for NA base
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Adjusting A/F EEC-IV blower
In caledit set adaptive control min and max to 0.5 and 0.5 then click refresh button on bottom right corner, if .5 is entered it won't take the change.
Set Act for maximum control min to 10 degrees and max to 20 degrees.
Yes, set Fuel base ol
What version and strategy of caledit?

Re: Adjusting A/F EEC-IV blower
Thanks for the help Pops. The documentation is pretty poor, so I have to relay on help. I was told by another expert to read the manual, but there is no manual or help for CalCon and limited info for CalEdit.

Re: Adjusting A/F EEC-IV blower
For me the best way was to get the right AFR at WOT N/A. I have done that buy sizing the injector slop, and tuning the maf curve, after that a have use the W/O FUEL MULTIPLYER to get the AFR i looking for under boost. Sorry for my poor english

Re: Adjusting A/F EEC-IV blower
Thanks all. The biggest problem I had were the poor or missing manuals and lack of reference documentation. This, and the lack of serious Elmering by people who claim to have it all figured out, is what really slowed the learning curve down.
I have things working now although not exactly by planning. Some of it was experimenting or cut and try. The constructive suggestions that filled in areas where the documentation is missing were greatly appreciated!!!
