How to determine your compression ratio from a comp. test

Post by 5.0Rick » Sun Dec 15, 2002 1:53 pm

Hi everyone,

This is for all of you turbo/supercharger folks.

I just wanted to share a neat tool that I came accross used to determine the compression ratio from a cranking compression test. All you need to do is enter the intake valve closing in degrees, stroke, bore and what you think your compression ratio is.

The results will give you the cranking compression in PSI. If the cranking compression matches your test, then you are dead on.

You can play with the static compression figure until you get the cranking compression in PSI that matches your test.

BTW, don't forget to have the throttle fully open when running the cranking compression test.

Here is the link.
