Adam Marrer @ Pops Racing- Tuning Genius

Post by 95project » Tue Jun 14, 2011 9:49 am

Its pretty well known that tuning the 94-95 can be difficult. I have spent the last 2 years trying to get mine right. I started with a local, well known/respected, mustang performance shop and had a tune (SCT) that made decent power, but the driveability was absolute SHIT. Fishing idle, extremely slow drop in RPM's when coming down, hot start issues and the list goes on. I then bought a Moates QH and tried to tune the car myself. I soon realized i dont have the time to learn.

So i contacted Adam Marrer with Pops Racing in New York. To say the least i was skeptical that someone could tune my car from afar given that my local guy, who has had several write ups in MMFF & 5.0, couldnt seem to get my car tuned correctly.

Adam FAR exceeded my expectations. He not only got my car tuned to perfection, but really went out of his way to help me get the end result i wanted. If anyone is having trouble tuning their car, i STRONGLY suggest you get in touch with Adam. His prices are reasonable, hes pleasant to deal with, and his expertise is something to be admired.

Great to hear. I've had great dealings with Adam as well though I haven't gotten tuning help, just a strategy. Be sure to take the time to see what he changed from your previous tune. Call it "accelerated learning." ;-)

that is also one of the good things about working with someone like him. I got to see everything he did..really helped me grasp BE and how to use it correctly..

hes a pretty wise gent, a personal friend as well

when i first started tuning fords he gave me some much needed direction and sound advice "expertise", he's always steered me right even in my rebellious state lol, none the less a huge contributor to the diy tuning community

now post a dyno sheet, I'll guess by your sig that she's got to be making around 335 or so?

I believe it was right at 352 crank...just over 300 to the wheels..i...i think my heads are too big...with the 165's i would probably pick up more HP..

thats a misconception, don't let the heads limit you, let the cam, you might sacrifice a bit of low end torque but its worth it for the gains on the big end

I had no idea that a remote tune could be as effective as a Dyno tune - I just got off the phone with Adam, and I'm going to try and do my tune remotely. Much easier then coordinating a time to meet in a city hundreds of miles away from both of us.

a dyno is nothing more than a tool to get you in the ballpark

real tuning is done at the track

ADAM IS A TUNING GENIUS!

Adam just recently did my (remote) tune, and to summarize my experience, I will simply repeat and reaffirm the original poster (Jason's) statement. I'm a technically proficient guy in many areas (other than EFI tuning) and so it was instantly apparent how incredibly fluent he is in regards to tuning, and how rich his experience and knowledge-base is as well.

Adam was also incredibly courteous, patient and generous with his knowledge throughout the process, and it was a pleasure dealing with him.

And on top of that, my truck now ROCKS. It's faster, smoother, shifts 100% better and all of the quirks are gone. Can it get any better? Adam, thank you very much!

After reading this seems like i might be going with adam as well i can build a monsterous engine no question but tuning efi is a nightmare to me i always had a friend do it then he would sit in the car with his laptop realtime datalog and tuning while i drove until it was perfect.

Id love to sit on a dyno all day JK and this sounds far easier.
