Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Convert '68 ford to EFI

Post by workingdog » Mon Feb 20, 2006 11:58 am

I'm not sure this is appropriate - but I'm sure there's someone there that can answer my question.

I going to convert my '68 F25 pickup to TBI. I has a midly build 390 in it right now. I considering the Mass-Flo system because is just about the only Mass Flow EFI system I could find. If I want to program it (and I do) they recommended using the Tweecer.

Mass-Flo seems to make a realtively simple, inexpensive and complete package and the Tweecer seems like a good tool for programming it.

Am I crazy? My wife says I am - but am I really?

To answer your last question, yes, you are crazy.

But you're not alone, as there are many crazed individuals out there, like yourself, including myself. What I would do, instead of considering this strange ass Mass-Flo system is to run the stock EEC-IV system that Ford created for '86-93 Mustangs. Believe me, I've studied this quite a bit since I've owned a '71 Mach 1 for over 12 years. If you can find a good single plane intake for the 390, have it drilled for injectors in each intake port. Try to mimic what others have done for Edelbrock Victor Jr. intakes when converting to EFI. But definitely try to use utilize the EEC-IV setup... major power to be had for very little investment. The TwEECer bolts right up to it too.

I have just completed an EFI conversion on the Ford 400 motor in my '53 F100. I used an EEC-IV with a Tweecer. I also used a 2003 Cobra Throttle Body, a Sullivan Performance intake adaapter/plenum, 42# injectors and a 90mm lightning MAF. I still have some tuning to do, but it starts and runs.
Now I am looking for info on how to set my throttle Body Air Flow, and OL Startup fuel table.

My firing order is the same as a 5.0 HO, but you will have to change the firing order for a 390.

you might want to go research more

Mass-Flo is a 1993 Mustang EFI system (EEC-IV) with a Pro-M air meter inside the throttle body.
