Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Sealevel load vs RPM scaling for with boost, best practice

Post by TT331FB » Wed Apr 27, 2005 11:20 pm

Hi Tuners,

Whats the concenses on adjusting the scaling to make the max load equal 100% load x. In other words, If I am seeing load values of 160%, should I scale them down to 100% load X?

Thanks.

Please clarify if you ended up with loadx(%) no greater than 100%, even under boost.

Really depends on what you want to do. My supercharged car is seeing loads in the 150-160 range. It doesn't really matter though as I want the exact same timing and AFR from 100% load and above so why change the load scaling? If you want to control how much timing comes in at 120% vs 100%, then rescale. Yes, you can easily scale so that you see 100% load as the peak loadx. EEC Analyzer makes it easy to visualize the changes on a graph.

Then do I understand correctly that you have not rescaled the load at all? What is your OL switch point?

My WB shows that I am still in closed loop when I start making boost leading to some "ping". My OL switch point is 75% loadx or 3VDC TPS signal. I make boost by 2800 RPM.

Randy, Has rescaled his load. I have the OL_Throttle_BP set to 2 & the WOT TPS Breakpoint voltage set at 2.5 under the scalar tab on my '93 A9L/GUFB car.... I have also adjusted the sea level load scaling.

One thing that you may consider looking at is the Min Load For Open & Closed Loop Fuel Control under the Scalars tab............These can be changed to make it look at the open loop fuel tables sooner.

Off Topic - What is the model number of the Yokogawa Display that you are using? I have looked on their website but do not see anything that looks like what you have mounted in the car......

The data logger is a DX100, customized to run on 12VDC. This is a trick part but way to exspensive to buy. It would be close to $3k if you bought it. Turns out the product manager is a Mustang dude and he was happy to supply me with a out of date unit. It works great for what I need but the "Bling" factor is what catches the eye. "no, it's not a DVD screen, its a data logger" LOL

I found the part number for it after reading your write up on your website. The reason that I asked about it is a friend of mine had offered me a used one a while back but I am not sure what the model number was on it. Now I have something to compare it with.... :D Yep the bling factor is very nice on that one, also a very nice car by the way. Maybe my '65 coupe will grow up to be that nice one of these days....
