Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Canister purge disable switch?

Post by wa_4x4builder » Tue Jun 21, 2005 11:15 pm

In the strategy document for the A9L, there is mention of a scalar named CANPHP to disable the canister purge sub-system. I can't seem to find that in CalEdit. Anyone have an idea of where I might find it or did I just overlook it on my first pass through the scalars?

Thanks!

I don't see the exact scalar that you are speaking of, but there is one called Canister Purge Open Loop Enable (PURGSW) that should fit the bill. Also right above that one is Canister Purge Minimum RPM (EVRPM). This is assuming you are using the A9L bin that comes with CalEdit and the A9L strategy.

I was hoping to disable the sub-system, including the KOEO tests for the CANP system, thus eliminating my one last trouble code. I'm not sure setting the min RPM will do the trick, but I will give it a try and determine what happens.

Thanks for the pointers,
Chris

I just changed these values and re-ran the KOEO tests- the code 85 I am getting still exists. I really think the CANPHP is the key here. It's mentioned in the strategy document. I haven't had any time to research its hex address (if it can be found), but it would be nice to add this scalar, if possible.

Thanks for suggestions everyone.

His name is Lee Hay. He is a friend of mine that lives in Odessa. We did some "horse" trading on all the new parts that he had bought for the 418w stroker etc. back in 2003-2004 that he has never had time to put together. Now the 418 parts are in my shop awaiting to be assembled if I ever quit working 7 days a week at the office..........

Did you clear KAM before re-running the test?

Also one other thing you may also want to set the

Thermactor Air Control Logic = 0

Depending on what all is removed from the system.

Yes, I reset the KAM. But, I might have screwed up  I yanked the battery cable off while heading out of the garage for work. I'll give it a re-test when I get home tonight.

I also set the Thermactor to 0 and the EGR to 2. I'm on a mission to remove emissions goo :P

According to useful tuning info.doc after you disable it you can:

Eliminate Purge Can Solenoid
Replace solenoid with 10K resistor

Good Luck, Don

No Luck... Same code 85 shows with the KOEO test.

I can't install the resister because the wires have been physically removed from the harness.

Hmmm, I'll try the other suggestion of setting the scalar to 9999, but I don't think that will help things. It's worth a try, though. Any other suggestions while I am in there fiddling around?

Thanks.

you need to start with the S0Z binary:
viewtopic.php?p=32724

S0Z has the CANP test disabled (not something avalible with CalEdit)

Ryan is correct it is not available in Caledit, but if you have an older version of the EEC-Editor or GUI-Pro you can access these......
